Black-Owned Business Expo returns to Dunkin’ Park in Hartford next week
The Hartford Yard Goats and Sto Black Business Collection are hosting the event at the ballpark on Main Street on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
HARTFORD, Conn. — A business initiative with past success is returning to Hartford’s Dunkin’ Park next week, according to the Yard Goats.
The ballpark on Main Street will host the Black-Owned Business Expo next Thursday, Oct. 9, from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
More than 50 vendors are expected to participate in the event, which is a collaboration between the minor league baseball team and the Sto Black Business Collective.
Next Thursday will mark the fifth time that the event has been held at Dunkin’ Park. The first edition was held there in February 2023.
The theme on Oct. 9 is “Black To the Future,” and the initiative is free and open to the public. It will occur inside the park’s YG Club.
Those who attend can purchase apparel, products and services from the dozens of vendors representing Black-owned businesses who will be on-hand.
The exciting display of local entrepreneurship will include fashion, wellness products, art, services and more. The expo will also provide attendees with a unique opportunity to shop locally and support Black entrepreneurs from the area.
Organizers added that the event is a celebration of the innovation, culture and economic impact brought to the community by the businesses that participate and the people who make them special.
Aisha Petteway, executive director of community partnerships for the Yard Goats Foundation, weighed in on what next Thursday’s gathering is all about.
“This isn’t just about commerce, it’s about connection,” Petteway said. “By opening our ballpark for events like these, we hope to amplify the voices, creativity and contributions of Hartford’s Black business community.”
The Yard Goats have made it tradition to host two Black-Owned Business Expo events at Dunkin’ Park each year.
Throughout the season, during every home game, the Yard Goats promote a local entrepreneur during the Bank of America Black-Owned Business Spotlight.
